Client Found Not Guilty in Sex Crimes Case

Drew Miller, head of the firm’s criminal defense team in Rogers, recently represented a Bentonville, Arkansas man accused of sexual indecency with a child and sexual assault in the second degree, both felonies. At the close of trial, the Benton County jury found our client not guilty on all counts. He faced up to a maximum of twenty six years in prison for the alleged crimes.

The prosecution argued that our client had approached the victim, age fourteen at the time of the alleged event, and exposed himself while she slept on a couch. They also argued that on other occasions our client had pinched the victim’s behind and had made inappropriate comments to her. At trial our client took the stand in his own defense and vehemently denied any sexual behavior toward the girl. A recording of the client’s initial interview with police was also played in which he firmly denied the allegations, was cooperative with police officers and according to Miller, “poured his heart out” in answering any and all questions concerning the case. Additionally a number of witnesses were called to testify to our client’s honest nature and character.

After closing arguments the case was submitted to the jury who deliberated for only twenty minutes before returning verdicts of not guilty on all counts.
